Property Tax Due Dates are August 31st and November 12th 2010.

There is a Drop Box for payments located outside the Treasurer’s Office at the Courthouse Annex, 1106 Jefferson St., Lawrenceville, Ill. Property Taxes can be paid using the Drop Box by placing payment stub and payment in an envelope and placing it in the Drop Box. Payments placed in Drop Box after closing on due date will be considered paid on time before office opens the next day at 9 A.M. Payments that are postmarked on the due date will also be considered as on time payments, no other exceptions will be accepted.

Again this year is the ability to pay taxes with a credit card through the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office at the Illinois Funds E-Pay site, www.illinoisepay.com or by using the Interactive Voice Response System at 1 (877) ILL-EPAY.

According to State Law, a penalty of 1&1/2% per month (or any portion thereof) is added, if taxes are not paid on or before due date.

We are also pleased that most of the area banks will be participating again in collection of property taxes for the 2009 payable 2010 collection year. The following list provides information in regards to those financial institutions participating for the 2009-2010 Tax Season.

Mobile Home/ Manufactured Home Owners:

The 2010 Mobile Home Bills have been prepared and will be mailed on Monday, March 1, 2010. They will be due and payable on Friday, April 30th, 2010 by 5 p.m., in the Lawrence County Treasurer’s Office, located in the Courthouse Annex at 1106 Jefferson Street Lawrenceville, Illinois 62439.

ATTENTION: IF YOU REQUIRE A PAID RECEIPT YOU MUST ENCLOSE A STAMPED SELF ADDRESSED ENVELOPE WITH YOUR PAYMENT, YOUR CANCELLED CHECK IS A RECEIPT.

Please be aware, that there is a drop box located outside the office entrance and any payments placed in drop box prior to the office opening at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 4th, will be considered as on time.

The manner in which Delinquent Taxes on Mobile Homes/ Manufactured Homes is collected has been changed by the enactment of the “Mobile Home Local Services Tax Enforcement Act”. Failure to pay taxes on time will result in a penalty of $25.00 per month or any portion of a month past the due date. Also any unpaid taxes will be sold at the annual Lawrence County Tax Sale.
