Lawrence County Memorial Hospital

Lawrence County Memorial Hospital

Established in 1950, Lawrence County Memorial Hospital has a rich history of serving the medical needs of the county’s 15,000 residents.

The hospital specializes in personal, primary care, with a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital is fully licensed by the State of Illinois for the following beds: 23 Acute Care (Medical/Surgical), 10 Psychiatric (Red Hills Center), and 2 Special Care for patients requiring intensive monitoring and diagnostic assessment.

At the core of the hospital is a 5,200 square foot Emergency Department completed in the year 2003, containing a medical screening area, a major trauma room, four minor procedure/examination rooms, and a decontamination room. The Emergency Department is staffed 24/7 by a team of highly experienced emergency physicians and nurses.

The Lawrence County Ambulance Service is owned and operated by the hospital and is located on the hospital campus. Consisting of both Basic and Intermediate Emergency Medical Technicians, the crew provides life saving measures as well as quality convalescent service.

Lawrence County Health Department

Lawrence County Health Department located west of Lawrenceville, IL, was formed as a result of a Federal Defense Zone shortly after World War II. The department has sixty-three employees including physicians, nurses, nurse’s aides, social workers, physical therapists, various technicians and a large support staff. Services include Home Health, Women, Infant and Children programs, Family Planning, STD Assessment Counseling and treatment, Environmental Health inspections, Behavioral Health Services, Alcohol and Substance Services and Hearing/Vision Screening evaluation. Primary Care offered by a nurse practitioner is available through the Rural Health Clinic. The Lawrence County Health Department is a large source of information; phone numbers are as follows:
