June 2010

The Lawrenceville Garden Club Garden of the Month award for June was given to Mrs. Penny Montgomery 2503 West Haven Road, Lawrenceville. Montgomery’s yard was chosen for its curb appeal. A Zen Garden it features arbors, rocks, statuary, birdbaths, and a large variety of plants. Beautifully executed and maintained by Montgomery herself. On hand for the presentation were left to right; Lawrenceville Mayor, Brian Straub, LGC President, Ann Umfleet, City Beautification Chairperson, Ellen Brown, Home- owner, Penny Montgomery, LGC members Ginny Dieckgrafe and Dottie Hennessey.




July 2010

The Lawrenceville Garden Club members have chosen Maxalee Black of 2403 Summitt Ave. as the recipient of the Garden of the Month for July 2010. Black's yard has a lot of curb appeal. It features raised beds with stone borders on both sides of the driveway; potted plants on the porch and a collection of birdhouses. The foundation plantings are edged with brick and contain topiary style evergreens. The backyard is a real delight with a paved patio and a pergola. Colorful plants are everywhere. Black does most of the maintenance herself and even set the pavers for the patio. Her garden was nominated by her neighbor, Tracy Hoke, Vice President of Lawrenceville Garden Club. On hand for the presentation were (left to right): Jean Leo, Ginny Dieckgrafe, Ellen Brown, City Beautification Chairman, Maxalee Black, Ann Umfleet, Tracy Hoke and Lawrenceville Mayor, Brian Straub.




August 2010

The membership of the Lawrenceville Garden Club selected K's Motel on east State St. as the Garden of the Month for August 2010. Owners Brenda and Neil Middlecoat were on hand to accept the award although Neil is not in the photo as he said 'It's Brenda's garden'. The south garden which is at the front of the motel features a fountain and a golden Budda, a gift from a friend. Plantings include Knockout roses, lavender, hollyhocks and boxwood. Along the west side are some cannas, possibly retained from previous owner, Joe Krych. On the east side is a bed including iris and other bulb plants. All in all it is a colorful, well-maintained space. On hand for the presentation were (left to right): Jean Caldwell, Ann Umfleet, Ginny Dieckgrafe, Ellen Brown, Lawrenceville Mayor, Brian Straub and Brenda Middlecoat.
