LAWRENCEVILLE - A classic boy-meets-girl story will take the stage in April during the Arts Council Spring Showcase.
The 2005 Spring Showcase will be April 8, 9 and 10 at Lawrenceville High School auditorium.
The play, called “Anything Goes,” features Billy Crocker and Hope Harcourt, who meet at an overcrowded party on a summer night in the 1930s. But, sadly, Hope leaves before giving her name or address to Billy.
Later, Billy - a Wall Street up-and-comer - meets up with Hope again on a cruise ship bound for England. He is only delivering his boss’s passport, but when he sees the woman he has been looking for for years, he decides to set sail.
Famed evangelist, Reno Sweeney, a friend of Billy’s is also on board, as entertainment for the cruise. Billy spends the cruise trying to win Hope away from the English baron, Sir Evelyn, to whom she is engaged.
A gangster, Moonface Martin, is hiding out on the ship. Billy wins his friendship by getting the FBI off his trail, and Moonface decides to help Billy win Hope’s hand.
