This group was formally organized in September of 2000 as a result of the first ever Lawrence County Job Fair. The Job Fair was a huge success. The council has now sponsored 5 Annual Job Fairs. They, too, have been great successes. And, the 6th Annual Job Fair is in the planning stages. The council meets monthly, on a rotating basis, at a member’s place of business. The 30 plus membership consists of Business owners, President’s of companies, Human Resource Managers, the Superintendents and Principals of our two school districts, the Director of our Business and Industry Training Services Center, the Director of our Small Business Development Center, Mayors and City Council members. Representatives from our Community College District are also regular guests of the council. The council’s main goal is to help prepare our high school graduates to be ready to enter the work force and to be successful. Another equally important goal is to encourage our present adult work force to improve their work skills. The council also supports efforts to increase job-training programs and technology training programs in our schools. Another ongoing goal of the council is to help each other out with any employment concerns, problems and referrals. The formation of this group has been a huge asset for our employers, their employees, our students and our country.
AS AN ADDED BENEFIT TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR EMPLOYMENT IN LAWRENCE COUNTY, THE COUNCIL MEMBERS HAVE LISTED JOB/CAREER OPPORTUNITIES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AT THEIR BUSINESS/COMPANIES:
